Performance of capillary barrier as a sustainable slope protection

Capillary barrier system (CBS) was developed as a slope protection method to prevent rainwater infiltration into the underlying soil based on principle of unsaturated mechanics by harnessing distinct difference in hydraulic properties fine-grained layer with those coarse-grained soils. The CBS is commonly designed and constructed using gravel material fine sand material. However, due scarcity natural aggregates consideration environmental sustainability, there need utilize recycled materials capillary system.
